PIX Direct for bookings: pay into the business, not a marketplace

How Timezer Direct PIX lets Brazilian salons and courts take deposits to their own key, with owner confirmation, without adding another intermediary cut.

If your clients already send PIX for everything, forcing a card checkout is how you lose the booking to a WhatsApp “I’ll pay at the door” — which is how no-shows start.

Timezer Direct PIX is the Brazil-native rail: the customer sees your PIX key, pays, and the business owner (or staff with access) confirms the payment. It is not a Timezer wallet. It is not a marketplace holding the money.

When Direct PIX is the right rail

Use it when all of these are true:

  • The business is in Brazil and clients prefer PIX to cards.
  • You can confirm payments within minutes during opening hours (navbar pending list exists for a reason).
  • You want deposits without stacking Mercado Pago fees on top of PIX.

Use Stripe / Mercado Pago when you need automatic capture, international cards, or you cannot staff a confirmation queue.

Many venues run both: cards for tourists and night owl checkouts; PIX for locals who already have you as a favourite key.

How the flow actually works

  1. The customer completes booking and chooses PIX.
  2. Timezer shows the business PIX key (and QR when configured).
  3. The customer pays in their bank app.
  4. The owner confirms in Admin (pending Direct PIX). Email alerts exist so this is not a hidden tab.
  5. The booking is treated as paid according to your appointment policy.

The friction is step 4. That is the trade: lower fees, human confirmation. If nobody confirms, the customer paid and still looks unpaid. Staff training is the feature.

Courts, replay, and PIX

Sports venues in Brazil already live on PIX. A court hour that is unpaid is an unpaid floodlight bill. Direct PIX plus full prepay is the usual pair.

Replay does not replace payment. Replay (booking + clip) is why players come back and why sponsors pay for overlay time. PIX is how the slot itself is sold. One system should do both so the player is not paying in WhatsApp and clipping in another app.

What Direct PIX is not

  • Not instant settlement inside Timezer. Confirmation is operational, not a bank webhook you can ignore.
  • Not a substitute for a cancellation policy. PIX paid, then ghosted, is still a policy question (refund vs retain).
  • Not available as the only story on the English homepage. The product is real; the marketing grid still talks Mercado Pago more loudly than PIX. If you are a BR owner, configure Direct PIX anyway.

Operator checklist

  • Put the correct PIX key in Admin. A wrong key is a support incident, not a “tech issue.”
  • Decide who confirms: owner only, or secretary. Train the pending queue like a POS.
  • Expire or cancel unpaid PIX bookings after a stated number of minutes so the calendar does not freeze.
  • Tell customers in the booking copy: “PIX to this key, then we confirm — keep the receipt.”
  • Reconcile daily against the bank. Direct PIX is not your accountant.

FAQ

Is Direct PIX the same as Mercado Pago PIX?

No. Mercado Pago is a gateway with its own checkout and fees. Direct PIX uses the key the business already has. Confirmation is manual in Timezer.

Can I use Direct PIX for packages and mensalistas?

Yes as a payment method toward those products, with the same confirmation step. Recurring court slots still need a human habit (or a gateway) each cycle unless you move that client to automatic billing.

What if the customer pays the wrong amount?

Do not confirm. Message them. Partial PIX is how disputes start. Your policy should say the booking is held only for the exact deposit.

Why would I still connect Stripe or Mercado Pago?

Automatic capture, cards, and hours when nobody is watching the pending list. PIX Direct is the BR fee-efficient path, not the only path.

Does Timezer keep the PIX money?

No. The money goes to the business key. Timezer’s SaaS plan is billed separately (Free or Professional subscription).
